Ram Truck Unveils New 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition
On March 18, 2020, Ram unveiled the 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition, a new luxury trim aimed exclusively for Texas and neighboring states. The Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition packages together popular appearance and luxury features.
“For nearly 20 years, Ram has recognized that Texas and America’s Southwest are the center of the truck universe,” said Mike Koval, Ad Interim Head of Ram Brand, FCA. “Ram was the first manufacturer to offer a Texas-exclusive model and the Lone Star edition remains our most popular truck in Texas. Our new Ram Laramie Southwest Edition adds the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology.”
Outside, the Laramie Southwest Edition’s presents body-colored bumpers, mirrors and grille surround. Subtle chrome highlights abound including tow hooks, grille inserts, bodyside moldings and polished 20-inch wheels. Power side steps are also included in the Laramie Southwest Edition and fold out of the way when the truck is parked or underway.
Inside, the Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition is loaded with new features and technology. Among those features are the Uconnect 4C infotainment system with a massive 12-inch touchscreen and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof. Also included are automatic high beam headlights, Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection, remote tailgate-release and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
According to Lakeland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Ram is offering four engines under the hood of the 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition trucks. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. This engine makes use of Ram’s eTorque mild hybrid system. Next up is 5.7L V8 Hemi with the multi-displacement operation (MDS) and variable valve timing (VVT). Another 5.7L V8 Hemi engine couples with the eTorque mild hybrid setup and is rated at 15/22 mpg. And for diesel enthusiasts, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 model puts out 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque and offers up 22/32 mpg in two-wheel-drive trim.
Similar to the Ram 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab, buyers can choose Quad and Crew Cab body configurations and 5 ft.-7 in. (Crew only) or 6 ft.-4-in. bed lengths.
