EVs Remain A Good Choice As Year-End Approaches

There can no longer be any doubt that electric vehicles (EVs), which are currently enjoying a compounded annual growth rate of nearly 22%, are the future of driving and transportation. Although Tesla continues to dominate the electric vehicle market, other brands including Tata, MG, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Audi, BMW, and Hyundai have also garnered a considerable demand for their own EVs. Thanks to the increase in competition, the average cost of EVs has decreased significantly in recent years, making them even more popular. While electric vehicles will undoubtedly continue to evolve, their popularity is not expected to wane anytime soon for a number of reasons. From no-hassle charging to an improved overall driving experience, here are a few reasons why investing in an EV in 2022 is a good idea.

Charging Becomes Increasingly Convenient

When EVs were first released, charging was somewhat of an inconvenience due to the limited number of charging points available. Today, however, these charging stations are literally popping up all over the place, making it much easier to keep an EV battery charged. In addition to public charging stations, EV owners are also able to invest in equipment that enables them to effectively charge their batteries from the comfort of their own homes. Although it is still possible for a battery to run out of charge, there is a huge difference between a dead battery and running out of gas.  While a gas car will alert a driver that they are low on fuel with a visual alert, EVs provide several visual and audio alerts as soon as the battery starts to deplete.

Cost Savings are Considerable

When buying any type of car, the costs to run and maintain it properly are always serious considerations. It is no secret that EVs are considerably cheaper in terms of fuel/energy as well as the general upkeep of the vehicle. EVs are more reliable than internal combustion engines as they have fewer parts that move. With less movement in the engine, wear and tear decreases, leading to a reduced need for regular maintenance. There is no oil that needs to be changed to prevent build-up, no valves that need to be cleaned, and no gasket that needs costly repairs or replacement. Combustion engines, on the other hand, have to be serviced on a regular basis to reduce the risk of a breakdown and very costly subsequent repairs.

The Environmental Benefit is Huge

Research has found that EVs are a lot more eco-friendly than their combustion engine counterparts. They can therefore make a big contribution towards the improvement of air quality in urban areas. Pure electric cars do not possess an exhaust system and do not emit any carbon dioxide while in use, decreasing the vehicle’s carbon footprint to a large extent. Generating the electricity required to charge an EV’s battery also produces less discharge than the burning of other fuels. If you charge the battery using a renewable energy source such as solar or wind energy, greenhouse emissions are reduced even more. While noise pollution is seen as a mild inconvenience to some, it can cause anxiety, depression, and chronic illness in others. As an EV is also much quieter than a combustion engine, noise pollution is also reduced.

Electric vehicles may have been considered an unnecessary novelty at first, but they have firmly cemented themselves as the future of driving and transportation. Considering the number of benefits they sport, it is not surprising that the demand for EVs continues to rise across the world.
