A Great Half-Ton Work truck

If you are in the trades, you know that a good work truck can make your life a lot easier. The problem is: how do you find out which manufacturer makes the best? Well, reading on-line reviews is a good start and we are here with a great review. We think we have found, hands down, the best half-ton work truck that money can buy. It’s the Ram’s 1500 with the EcoDiesel engine. Let’s take a look why.

High-efficiency Diesel

Let’s start with the 3.0L EcoDiesel Turbocharged V6 engine. This engine is an option but it is absolutely worth the upgrade. Here’s what you should know. In prior years, the 3.0L EcoDiesel was rated at 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to a redesign in 2020, however, the engine now puts out 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Not only are those impressive specifications, that torque is available on the low-end, kicking in around 400 rpm lower than previous years. According to Sunset Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, the Ram 1500 with the 3.0L EcoDiesel engine is rated to pull 12,560 pounds.

Great Fuel Economy

You likely know that diesel engines deliver excellent fuel economy, which means more money in your pocket and less in your fuel tank. According to Ram’s chief engineer, the 2020 Ram 1500 can be driven the 1,089 miles from Duluth, MN to Dallas, TX without stopping for fuel. Doing a little math that comes in out to a whopping 33 mpg highway mileage. One more time, shall we? That’s 33 mpg from a work truck!

Excellent  Interior and Exterior Cargo Space

The Ram 1500 Big Horn Quad-Cab is spacious enough on its own, but the rear seats fold up straight to reveal a load floor. Underneath the rear floor mats are a bunch of hidden bins for out-of-the-way storage. The center console contains multiple internal bins and compartments. But the rear box is where the 2020 Ram 1500 really shines. The standard box is a generous 5’7” between the wheel wells and it is available with the factory-installed RamBox, an optional bed that adds lockable exterior storage boxes.

Driver Assist Technology

The 2020 Ram 1500 trucks include a wide selection of driver-assist safety technologies. Depending on the trim level, included are automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automated high-beam headlamps, and advanced airbag technology. Additional towing-centric safety features include Hill Start Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation, and Electronic Stability Control.

Superior Infotainment

The Wow-factor here is most definitely the available 12-inch touchscreen, part of the UConnect4C system. Much like having a widescreen TV mounted in your living room, this console and display make everything easier to see. There are 5, 8 and 12-inch touchscreens available across varying trim levels as well 4G Wi-Fi connectivity.

But Wait, There’s More

The 2020 Ram 1500 has even more features that make it a great truck but we urge you visit www.ramtrucks.com and see what’s available. Alternatively, drop by your local Ram dealer and see for yourself!
