The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV

Mercedes-Benz is the name synonymous with luxury, and in 2020 the GLE SUV is given a full redesign while adding even more features and more refinement. Already a luxurious vehicle, the GLE ups its game even more with the addition of an MBUX infotainment system which has garnered high praise for the ease of use as well as top-notch technology. Mercedes-Benz has also included a ton of new safety and security features for the GLE as well as a third row of seats that are available on all GRE models. The base-level GRE will more than satisfy with its modern-design as well as glorious interior and impeccable construction. If you like luxury, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE should be number one on the list.

Engine-wise, the GLE provides you with two options. The first is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive and the option for all-wheel-drive. The second is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft that comes with all-wheel-drive, and a 48-volt EQ Boost electrical system that provides you with an additional 21 horsepower when needed. According to Mercedes-Benz of Charlottesville, VA, this engine is only available for the GLE 450 4Matic trim.

Mercedes-Benz provides you with four trim levels for the GLE each coming with a ton of spectacular features. The base-level GLE delivers you with 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, a hands-free liftgate, automatic wipers, keyless ignition and entry, adaptive suspension dampers, an automated parking system, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and simulated leather upholstery. Technological efforts include a 12.3-inch touchscreen with an MBUX infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The GLE also gives you package options such as a Premium package with a household power outlet, interior ambient lighting, and a wireless charging pad. A Driver Assist package that comes with adaptive cruise control, active emergency stop assist, active lane change assist, and a low-level automated driving system. One of the more crowd-pleasing packages is the MBUX Technology package that gives you augmented reality driving directions, a head-up display and additional controls for exterior features. The only option unique to the top-tier GLE 450 4Matic is an innovative E-Active Body Control suspension option that leans the vehicle into turns and reduces the sensation of lateral cornering forces for passengers.

Incredibly well designed the GLE has a sizable cabin with cubbies and compartments available for stashing drinks and items. The GLE’s cargo area is large and flat with no wheel well intrusion, and the maximum cargo room is the best among the midsize luxury SUV class. It's also not short on power as the GLE's max towing capacity even with a four-cylinder engine is remarkably stable. The back seat has easy-to-access car seat anchors with plenty of room for even the bulkiest child safety seats.

While most people rightfully think of luxury with Mercedes-Benz vehicles like the GLE are also family-friendly vehicles with a ton of features and safety equipment. But if you are looking for luxury items like all-leather interior and a top-class entertainment system fear not there still here. All of this encapsulates what makes a Mercedes-Benz a Mercedes-Benz.
